Barnapeysa

 Ég er að prjóna þessa peysu fyrir litla systurdóttur mína. Uppskriftin er fengin úr Pjrónablaðinu Ýr nr. 34.
I am knitting this sweater for my little niece. The pattern is from Icelandic knitting magazine named Pjrónabladid Yr and is no. 34. Most of the patterns in it are from the Norwegian yarn manufacturer Sandnes yarn. 

Í blaðinu er peysan sett fram sem strákapeysa en með því að verða dáldið stereotýpisk og nota bleikt verður þetta hin fínasta stelpupeysa.

In the paper the sweater is presented as a sweater for boy but by becoming a bit stereo typical and use pink, this the finest girl sweater.

Bangsamunstur skreytir peysuna.
Teddy Bear pattern decorates the sweater.

Röndóttar ermar lífga líka upp á.
Striped sleeves inspire.

Og svo fylgir náttúrulega húfa í stíl með. 
And then of course there is a cap that match coming with it.

Um daginn fór ég í Handprjón.is og keypti þetta fallega garn. Ég ætla að prjóna sjal úr því en er ekki búin að ákveða hvernig. Kanski skálda ég eitthvað. 
The other day I went to the shop Handprjón.is and bought this beautiful yarn. I'm going to knit a shawl out of it but have not decided how it should look.

Spottataskan

Mér finnst alveg ótrúlega gaman að safna að mér því sem ég held að ég geti notað í eitthvað.  

I find it quite amazing to collect things that I think I can use someday to make something out of.

Meðal annars geymi ég alla bandspotta sem falla til þegar ég geng frá endum og eru lengri en 5 cm.  Spottana hnýti ég síðan saman og safna í hnykil sem síðan verður að einhverju. 
Among other things, I keep keep the rest of my yarn that are longer than 5 cm. I bind those yarn ends  together and wind up in a yarn ball knowing that someday it will turn out to be something.

Nú er ég að hekla tösku úr spottunum. 

Now I´m crocheting a bag from the yarn.

Það á nú samt eftir að taka tíma að klára hana þar sem spottarnir safnast ekkert svakalega hratt upp. En skemmtilegt er þetta.  

It will take some time to finish it because it takes some time to gather enough yarn endings to make whole bag. But this is fun.

Rauða vestið

Það kom að því að ég kláraði rauða vestið (mig minnir að það heiti Cecilia, þarf samt að tékka á þvi). Ég ætla ekki að telja mánuðina eða árin síðan ég byrjaði á því. En það verður örugglega nokkur tími þar til ég nenni að prjóna svona mikið af köðlum aftur.

At last I finished my red vest (I recall that it´s called Cecilia but I need to check on that).  I'm not counting the months or years since I started it. But it will definitely take some time until I will knit so much rope again.

 Það er örugglega komið hálft ár síðan ég kláraði að prjóna vestið, þvoði það og lagði það til.
It is definitely a half years since I finished knitting that vest, washed it and let it dry.

 Það tók allan þennan tíma að ákveða hvernig ég ætti að ganga frá tölu/krækju/sauma hálskanntinn saman. Það stóð nefnilega ekki í uppskriftinni hvernig hönnuðurinn gerði þetta og ekkert hnappagat var prjónað í hálskanntinn.
It took all this time to decide how I should go for buttons / hooks / sewing the neckline together. It was not in the recipe how the designer did this and no buttonhole  was knitted in the neckline.

 En vestið er fallegt og garnið dásamlegt. Ég keypti garnið í Ömmu Mús og er það spunnið sama úr 50% ull og 50% silki. Þetta er garn sem ég á örugglega aftur eftir að prjóna úr. 
  But the vest is beautiful and made from wonderful yarn. I bought the yarn in a shop named Grandmother Mouse (Amma Mús) in Reykjavik and is it made of 50% wool and 50% silk. This is a yarn that I'm definitely  going to use again.

Lopapeysa

Loksins er Birta tilbúin. 

Finally Birta is ready.

 Ég byrjaði að prjóna hana milli jóla og nýárs og saumaði síðustu endana  á föstudaginn.
I started to knit it at the time between christmas and New year and sewed the last threads last Friday.

 Ég er hrikalega ánægð með munstrið og finnst það vera dáldið retró.
I am very happi with the pattern and think it is a bit retro.

 Kantarir framan á ermunum og neðan á peysunni koma skemmtilega út og gefa henni öðruvísi yfirbragð miðað við hefðbundnar lopapeysur.
The front of the sleeves and bottom of the sweater looks good the way they are out the and give the sweater a different appearance compared to traditional lopi sweaters.

HB var mjög ánægð með hana og notaði hana mikið í sveitinni um helgina.
HB was very delighted with her sweater and used it a lot in the country visit this weekend. 

Ugluvettlingar

Ég prjónaði þessa ugluvettlinga og gaf vinkonu í afmælisgjöf um daginn.
I knitted those owl mittens recently and gave a friend as a birthdaypresent.

Nafnið á þeim er Give a hoot og er uppskriftin að þeim frí á Ravelry. 
The mittens are called Give a hoot and can be found as a free Ravelry pattern.

 Ég notaði tvöfaldan plötulopa í uppskriftina og fannst þeir vera þjálir og hæfilega þykkir þannig. Þó væri alveg hægt að gera þá úr þreföldum plötulopa og fá þá enn þykkari og þá hlýrri þegar kaldast er úti.
I used a double plötulopi in the pattern and thought that way they were moderately thick that way. But it would be quite possible to make them from a triple wool and get them even thicker and warmer when there is really cold outside.

Echoes of Color by Joji

Þá er ég loksins búin með Echoes of Color eftir Joji . 
Finaly I have finist Echoes of Color by Joji. 

Það var auðvelt að prjóna sjalið en seinlegt. Fyrir utan prjaða kögrið er sjalið prjónað úr garðaprjóni og stuttum umferður svo ég prjónaði það mikið við sjónvarpið.

It was easy to knit this shawl, but it took some time . The shawl is knitted in garter stitch and short rows so I did knit it mostly in front of the TV.

Sjalið varð frekar stórt en sem betur fer ekki svo stórt að ég gangi á því ef það liggur laust yfir axlirnar.  Handklæðin undir sjalinu eru frekar stór baðhandklæði svo hægt sé að ímynda sér hve stórt sjalið er.
The shawl was pretty big, but fortunately not so large that I am stepping  on it if I it were is loose over my shoulders. The towels under the shawl are rather large bath towels so you can imagine how big the shawl is.

En ég er mjög ánægð með það.
But I´m very happy with it.

 Ég hugsa að ég þurfi ekki að fá mér sumarjakka því sjalið er örugglega jafnhlýtt og einn þannig og nógu stórt til að veita gott skjól.
 I think I do not have to buy me a summer jacker because that shawl is probably as warm as one and large enough to provide good shelter

Á prjónunum

Ég er alltaf með eitthvað á prjónunum. Yfirleitt allt of mikið af verkefnum. Áramótaheitið í ár var því að vera alltaf með eitthvað tvennt til þrennt að vinna í. Með því móti næ ég að klára eitthvað af því sem ég er að gera.

I always have something on the needles. Usually, too many projects. The new year promise to my self this year was to always have something two to three working projects at the time and no more. By that way, I'll finish these things I'm working on.

Núna er ég að prjóna sjal sem er svona mystery. Uppskriftin barst í 4 pörtum og ég er búin að fá þá alla en er aðeins á eftir með prjónaskapinn. Er sem sagt að prjóna clue 3 en á að vera búin með clue 4.
Right now I'm knitting a shawl that is a mystery knit. The pattern came in 4 parts and I have gotten them all, I´m still knitting Clue 3, but should be done with the clue 4.

 Litirnir sem ég valdi eru mjög óvenjulegir fyrir mig t.d. á ég ekkert gult á mig. Ég ákvað að nota garn sem ég áttir fyrir í stað þess að kaupa nýtt því það er hreinlega garn um alla íbúðina. Í skápum, hillum, skúffúm, stofuborðinu sem er kista, upp á háalofti, nánast alls staðar nema í fataskápum og eldhússkápunum. 
The colors I chose are very unusual for me, for example, I don´t own anything yellow on me. I decided to use that yarn I owned instead of buying new, because it is simply yarn everywhere the apartment. In closets, shelves, drawers, coffee table, in the attic, almost everywhere except in wardrobes and kitchen.

Ég ákvað að prjóna hana úr þreföldum plötulopa í stað þess að nota álafosslopa.
I decided to knit it from triple plötulopi instead of using Álafoss wool.

Bambapeysa

Ég prjónaði þessa bambapeysu handa 5 ára frænku minni í jólagjöf. Uppskriftina fann ég í Ungbarnablaðinu.  I knitted this sweater for my 5 year old niece for Christmas. The pattern is from Sandnes garn.

Mig var lengi búið að langa til að prjóna hana og lét loks verða af því núna því frænkan var að vaxa upp úr stærstu stærðinni sem er 5 ára. 
I had been wanting to knit it for some time and finally did it for this christmas. I could not wait any longer because the largest size of the pattern is 5 years old an my  niece is 5. 

Ég stækkaði hana með því að lengja aðeins í ermunum og bolnum. 
I made it larger by extending the sleeves and body.

Svo skipti ég út garni og notaði Sandnes lanett í stað sisu vegna mýktarinnar.

I changed the yarn and used Sandnes Lanett instead SISU. I think lanett is a bit softer than sisu.

Í haust fór ég með saumaklúbbi í sumarbústaðarferð þar sem var borðaður góður matur og kerti skreytt. Ég ákvað að sýna myndir af þessu núna því ég hreynlega gleymdi því í haust. 

In the fall, I went with the a knitting circle to a cottage and there we ate good food and decorated candles . I decided to show pictures of this now because I totaly forgot it this fall.

Fiðrildaslóð

kallast þessi peysa sem ég prjónaði í jólagjöf handa 8 ára frænku minni. 

is this sweater called which I knitted as a Christmas gift for my 8 year old niece. It means butterfly trail.

Uppskriftin er fengin úr bókinni "Prjónað úr íslenskri ull". Ég breytti reyndar úr því að nota léttlopa í að nota plötulopa því mér finnst hann mýkri viðkomu. 
The pattern is taken from the book "Knitted of Icelandic wool". I changed the yarn from the use of léttlopa as is in the pattern to using plötulopa because I think it has softer touch.

Peysan var fljótprjónuð. Hún er gefin upp fyrir prjóna nr. 4,5 en ég ákvað að nota prjóna nr. 5 því ég vildi stækka peysuna aðeins. Frænka mín er 8 ára og uppskriftin er gefin stærst fyrir 8 ára. Með því að nota stærri prjóna og lengja bol og ermar um 2 cm stækkaði ég peysuna upp í 9 ára og jafnvel rúmlega það. 

The sweater was a quick knit. It´s given up for knitting needle no. 4.5, but I decided to use needle no. 5 because I wanted to have the sweater a bit bigger than the pattern is given for. My niece is 8 years old and the recipe is given for sizes 8 years. By using larger knitting needle and extend the torso and sleeves about 2 cm, the sweater is usable for a 9 years old and even a bit longer than that.

Stroffið var mjög fallegt og óhefðbundið. Það setti töluverðan svip á peysuna og skreytir hana. Svo notaði ég tölur sem eru eins og maríubjöllur og mjög fallegar. Ég fékk þær í tölubúðinni á Hellu (sem ég man ekki hvað heitir. Fínt ef einhver veit það og nennir að láta mig vita svo ég geti birt nafið). 
The rib pattern was very beautiful. It decorated the sweater very much. Then I used buttons that look like a lady beetles and are very beautiful. I got them in the button store  in Hella (which I can´t remember the name of).

Þetta var fiðrildapeysan sem ég gerði. Næst sýni ég myndir af hreindýrapeysu sem ég gerði fyrir 5 ára frænku mína. Þetta voru sem sagt mikil dýrajól í peysuprjóni.
This was the butterfly sweater I made. Next, I show pictures of reindeer sweater I made for my 5 year old niece.
